Severity: major Keywords: SDAC, AIA Synoptic

Joe G reports "Now getting 505 errors on _every_ attempt to download AIA synoptic (1024 x 1024) FITS files"

> % SOCK_ERROR: Response code = 42 % SOCK_ERROR: Status code = 403. URL not accessible - https://sdo5.nascom.nasa.gov/data/aia/synoptic/2018/05/28/H2100/AIA20180528_213900_0193.fits

Note that this is from sdo5 and not sdo4, which has been throwing the errors every five or so files on AIA lev1 (4096 x 4096) requests.

    Jennifer, Jason, Ed, Marc -

Has something changed in the last few days that could be leading to these errors?

Our system admin team found and solved the problem:

"/Volumes/nrt2 was offline. Don’t know why, all lights were good. We power cycled them and remounted them on sdo5. So for now sdo5 looks good. Might be worthwhile to check sdo4 or which ever mounts the AIA volumes. Just to check for any lingering NFS issues." --Marc Depres

It was then resolved to put a volume mount check into regular crons to make sure an alert is created if/when those mounts drop. "leslie and I will be adding the nrt and nrt2 volumes to our checks for disk usage. normally we only do the local filesystems and not all the extra storage, but we’re making an exception. "--MD

This should be sufficient to solve the issue in future. Jennifer was able to follow the link previously unavailable to Joe Gurman and download the file, as was Alisdair at NSO.
