New Data Provider Questionaire

Please see NewDataProvider for more information about becoming a VSO Data Provider, and what to do with this questionaire once you have filled it out, or for information about assistance in filling it out.

It will help to refer to the VSO Data Model while filling this out.


  1. Under what name is your organization commonly refered to?
  1. Is there is a standard abbreviation or acronym for your organization?
  1. What data sets are you sharing?

Please describe each data set in terms of:

  1. Instrument & Detector
  1. Observatory Name
  1. Observatory Abbreviation
  1. Instrument Name
  1. Instrument Abbreviation
  1. Detector or other Sub-instrument Name
  1. Detector Abbreviation
  1. Physical Observable * (see PhysicalObservable)
  1. Time range
  1. earliest record
  1. most recent record, if not actively adding info
  1. Observed region (full disk, solar limb, corona, etc.)
  1. Spectral Range (if applicable)

It may be easier to give this information in a tabular format. An example is available.

  1. How is the data being made available?
  1. Request mechanism (direct URL, email, web-based form, etc)
  1. Packaging (FITS, CDF, JPG)
  1. Delivery Protocol (HTTP, FTP, etc.)
  1. If the data products aren't accessible directly, what is the standard turnaround between data request, and it becoming available?
  1. If you have a catalog of metadata:
  1. Is it currently in a database? (if so, what vendor?)
  1. What metadata is available in the database?
  1. If you don't have a catalog, please describe how the data is organized.
  1. Is there anything else about the data that might be important for people to do science with it?

(calibration info, details about the file formatting, etc.)
