New Data Provider Questionnaire
Please see NewDataProvider for more information about becoming a VSO Data Provider, and what to do with this questionaire once you have filled it out, or for information about assistance in filling it out.
It will help to refer to the VSO Data Model while filling this out.
- What is the name of your organization or archive?
- Is there is a standard abbreviation or acronym for your organization?
- What data sets are you sharing?
Please describe each data set in terms of:
- Instrument & Detector
- Observatory Name
- Observatory Abbreviation
- Instrument Name
- Instrument Abbreviation
- Detector or other Sub-instrument Name
- Detector Abbreviation
- Physical Observable * (see PhysicalObservable)
- Time range
- earliest record
- most recent record, if not actively collecting data
- Observed region (full disk, solar limb, corona, etc.)
- Spectral Range (if applicable)
- Instrument & Detector
- How is the data being made available?
- Request mechanism (direct URL, email, web-based form, etc)
- Packaging (FITS, CDF, JPG)
- Delivery Protocol (HTTP, FTP, etc.)
- If the data products aren't accessible directly, what is the standard turnaround between data request, and it becoming available?
- If you have a catalog of metadata:
- Is it currently in a database? (if so, what vendor?)
- What metadata is available in the database?
- If you don't have a catalog, please describe how the data is organized.
- Is there anything else about the data that might be important for people to do science with it?
(calibration info, details about the file formatting, etc.)
- Is there documentation on using this website on a website or published papers?
- Is there software in SolarSoft to perform calibration, visualization or otherwise make use of the data?
- If not, is there software available (through other distribution channels) to use the data?
